CAI Questions...
#1
Just installed my new CAI and have a few questions for
you experts:
1) The filter is slightly pressed up against the
wheel well. I couldn't figure out how to arrange
the CAI so that it doesn't touch. Will this be
a problem? Only the bottom lip of the filter touches
the wheel well.
2) Was it hard for you guys to mount the fuse box back
into place? The bottom of the box hit the CAI. I
did get it in, but it is snug. Is this a problem?
3) Do you hear a slight "hissing" noise when you slowly
accelerate? Is this normal?
I'll post my findings in a few days or so. The short
of it, is that I love it and it brings a smile to my face.

the hissing is normal as is the growl at wot.
as for the the filter being up against the wheel well, if your not getting vibration then no harm no foul. personally, i would try and rotate the tube the see if it pulls away from the fuse box and filter away from the side wall in the well... it sounds like a small twist might give you a different angle.

1) as for the filter touching in the fender well, its normal! My cone touches at the bottom. It doesnt effect any performance at all! i think thats how all of the kits are, from what i have heard.
2) the hissing is also normal when accelerating. Even at an idle you probably hear the cone hissing. When i raised my idle the hissing got louder and now people think i have a super charger or somethin under the hood.

As for the fitment of the fuse box, mine was a pain in the but to fit in mostly because I think I did not cut the hole at the exact position, since I had the drawing which shrunk. I seriously had to apply downward force with my body weight to make the holes line up right. All is well, it fits. The rubbing of the filter against the wheel well is ok, most everybody's does this. The hissing is pretty normal. You will notice the hissing noise go down as the filter gets dirtier. But dirtier is better since the oil on the K&N actually takes the dust and dirt and makes it "part" of the filter. Hope this helps
