problem with VB mod?

I just had my valvebody mod installed and it seems like it's not working right. My shifts are actually longer than before and my tranny seems to struggle with all shifts. It noticeably slips from 2-3 and 3-4. Also, I have to floor the gas pedal to get it to downshift. the real weird one is when I'm on the highway and shut the OD off (with my foot off the gas), the tach drops to idle(600-700 rpms). I have to have my foot pressing the gas for it to downshift when hitting the OD button. Anyone else had any problems like this??? I'm gonna call Maximum Tuning on monday, but I was hoping to see what I might be dealing with. Thanks.

Who installed it? When I did mine I read all sorts of junk about them messing up due to minor glitches on the install. Most of them were easy to diagnose though (ie, can't put the car into gear, etc). This sounds a little more major though. If it was shipped to you, maybe someone stepped on it

fantastic, when i got my vb i did all the install. when i came to a stop my car would drop into neutral(neutralizing) to get going again i would have to rev the car to about 1k rpm to get into first. short story long they told me i needed a rebuild which fixed the neutralization, but the car would still jerk into first. they where stumped. called maxtunning(very nice and tried very hard to help me any way they could) and asked them to send me another vb, jeff did so no questions asked. new vb installed (not by me since car was under warranty from shop) all problems solved since(3months)

DO-call maxtunning and get them to send you another vb to see if this fixes the problem

DONT- go immediatly to get a rebuild

hope this helps(on a side note they are real cool about the vb's i havent shipped mine back yet as ive only recently rounded up the money and they dont seem to care yet)

I did check my tranny fluid many times. Also, I had Jeff install it at Maximum Tuning. I took a 3 hour hike to his shop for the install. sounds like I need to get another VB I'm gonna call tomorrow.

Well, I talked to Jeff. He called his tranny guy and came back with either a bad solenoid or an internal leak in the tranny. I'm going back monday and he's gonna change the solenoid again...and the VB just to be safe. Thanks for your replies. Also, I must that Jeff is a great guy to deal with. He is being extra helpful gettign this taken care of.

You'll get bored with it and want a 5-speed in a few months

Enjoy it while it's new though!!!

thats the exactly syntoms of:
1. your VB is very bad(maybe they did the mode but didnt check the valves and dirty on it.
2. your tranny is loosing preassure so it not shift fine.
3. The dirty is stucking on the VB so it makes a sliping pain.

I really know about this trannys after 2 tranny rebuilts and 2 VB.

My car started doing the same thing after Don's VB mod. It shifts faster at part throttle but doesn't really shift all that much faster in the 1-2 shift. I lost my 3rd gear when off the throttle too. So I guess I have a bad solenoid?

Anyone know how much a new solenoid is?

I can tell you that Jeff changed all my solenoids for $125. That was just parts cost. Labor was free because he had to take them out anyway to swap the VB. As for which one was actually causing the problem, I don't know which one it was.
