it can be done on any car, and there was one on ebay for sale, it was white with flames on front clip, and shot flames out the back. you can do it on a volvo, like i said i am not sure on specifics, but there is a write up somewhere.

yeah, there are universal "kits" for any car....like fast and furious style. obviously for hot rodders and all for looks. but some cars will actually do it without sticking a spark plug in the exhaust. my brothers '87 FC JSPEC TII does it but his USDM version wont. our cars aren't supposed to.

It intercepts a signal to one spark plug and relays it to the spark plug thats been added in the exhaust. Causes one cylinder to send unburnt fuel into the exhaust, and the spark sets it off. I believe you need to have the cat removed for it to work properly but don't quote me. This could cause all kinds of havoc to the sensors.
The cars that do it naturally are usually boosted, and have a good amount of overlap. The BOV usually cause the engines to run very rich once the throttle is let off, and the overlapping intake/exhaust cycles ignite the unburnt fuel, and it'll kind of backfire. Some NA cars will do this too, but usually require quite an extensive rev limiter.

PS Feel free to correct me if I am mistaken, but thats my understanding of it.
