Hub and Wheel Bearing DARN HUB!

The car has 124k miles.

There was a terrible racket coming from the front end of my car... It sounded like it was coming from the wheel bearing, but seemed to make a different sound. It also didn't come on as gradually as a wheel bearing usually does.

Anyway, I took everything apart, only to find the wheel bearing wasn't in bad shape at all.... but the hub was trashed. It turns out, the bearing was spinning on the hub. The hub is supposed to be a tight, pressed fit inside the bearing, but it was turning inside the inner bearing. (the half furthest from the wheel studs)

The race can be slid right over the scored area and wobbled around. It still fits tightly over the non-scored area.

Anyway, a new hub costs $102.70 at the following address. New bearings are a around $34, seals are $8.96. They only list and picture one seal, but two are needed. All parts are genuine Nissan. I purchased the IDENTICAL, SKF brand bearing from NAPA (the exact same unit that came out of the car) for $46. The seal at NAPA was $13. I just thought I needed a bearing, and wanted to get it done quick. Oh well.... The below site is an excellent place for purchasing genuine Nissan parts.

Good Luck!
