I average 21-23, mixed freeway and city, but once in awhile I get a tankful that is way off average. My last tank I got 27.26 mpg, and I can't think of anything I did different except maybe go to a new gas station.

i would get a tune up or something, that seems alittle on the low side wouldn't you say. I get about 20. I said that on the other MPG thread as well., This will go on forever and i will get countless e-mails saying that someone responded. OH - NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

I'm getting about 22 MPG here in NYC with only city driving. I do about 40 miles all city driving daily and I get about 300 miles a tank.

Well I use Shell Premium and they use summer formula in the summer (remember the "new Shell formula that gives better MPG" commerials they were running on TV)

Same here, I floor it at every light I'm going to shave the rear completely and let the people wonder about which car just dusted them

You need a tuneup, tire pressure set to 32-35 all around, new front O2 sensors, and a new KS (if dead). Good luck

300 to a tank is not 22mpg, it's only like 18 and only if you fill up as soon as the light comes on...

300 for a full tank of gas, sometimes less. It depends on how I drive the car, since I had installed the damm intake. i press the gas too much.

I'm getting around 17-18 mpg with mostly city driving, and jumping briefly on the freeway between the job and school . Mostly freeway I get around 23-24mpg.

I just checked my ecu and 0505 came up, so who knows what it is. I think I will be changing the 02 sensors later. I have 124k miles on the Max now, with the original O2 sensors. I know people have changed them even without getting a code and their mpg went up quite a bit.

O2 sensors get worn out around 100k miles. They still work, but get slower and slower until they finally die. That's why they recommend that you replace them around 100k miles.

The rear one doesn't help with getting better MPG so replace that when it dies, but replace the front 2 when they have around a 100k miles

Your right, usually I do get about 18 mpg but I've had times where I try to not floor it as much and do get about 22mpg or so.

The day I drove my max off the lot, the light was on and I ran out of gas about 3 blocks away. That was pretty embarassing.

Is it safe to say that you were intending an engine replacement anyway, due to other more severe problems? If so, those problems are likely interfering with your efficiency.

Yep, another MPG thread... there oughta be a sticky FAQ on average MPG rated for stock and applicable mods, along with typical things to replace/clean to restore normal engine efficiency.

It is possible to get very good MPG, though. I can get as high as 32.5 constant highway at 65mph (5speed); no engine mods.

Sounds good. I will replace the front two and wait for the rear one to die.

Do you think it is worth doing this on the original O2 sensors with 124k miles?

I cleaned mine with TB cleaner. Seems to work. Just filled up again and got 260 miles out of 15.8 gallons. That's like 16.3mpg, the resistor mod seems to be working...

Check your ECU for stored codes to see if the Knock Sensor code comes up. My check engine light has never come on, but when I checked for stored codes, the KS code came up. After installing my new one, MPG went up & performance improved, now I have to change my O2 sensors to make it go up higher . I believe when my sensor was bad I went as low as 12-13 MPG .
