Weekend race stories

well.. the other night on my way to westport from fall river (MA) i was fooling around with a 5.0gt which was not stock i pulled on him till end of 3rd then he slowly crept past me not to shabby for a v6 3000lbs vs a 2000lbish v8...

then a kid i knew from another town which had a 97 eclipse turbo stock lost to me sadly especially after i reached 3rd gear and while that was going on to my right lane was a red 305 camaro which was in the same run with the eclipse turbo which was slow... also i had a half tank of gas and 1 girl in the car...i was expecting a better run with the camaro and then eclipse.. odd

I also raced a 95+ eclipse GST, which as it turned out was stock except for a loud a$$ blow-off valve. It was a 5-spd eclipse vs. my 99 5-spd SE-L. In addition, one of my ignition coils was going bad at that time resulting in cylinder misfires under heavy load.

Anyway, I'm not too excited with my performance, even though I won. At 60 we let loose and I had the GST by a full carlength. The only reason why I don't brag about this one is because the driver was a young Asian girl. I do admit though that she did change gears fast and from what I could tell she was doing very well. Anyway, just my $.02

What kinda Granprix was it? The GTP? if it was a 97 gtp, then dont be ashamed... they are pretty peppy, even stock... but just take one from a roll, and it should be alright modded... watch out

I would be more worried about a new 4.6 then an older 5.0. But yes, any serious mods and bye bey maxie.

I gotta add my two cents too, today I raced a malibu, yes I know i know, malibu wow, great comp! But this little kid wanted to run, and from the looks of it he had recently gotten his car, well we ran on the express way, 2nd to drive I smoked the kid, by like 6+ cars, after that I just left him behind. Then I got to race a eclipse RS 5-speed, another kill, I wanted a eclipse long ago, HAHA thank god I got the max. So far i've beatin:
97 max Gxe=stock (I had a intake)
98 Honda Accord=stock (I was stock)
98 GTP(think)=stock(intake&exhaust, barely won)
93 Honda Accordstd=modded (intake & exhaust)
92 Camry=stock (stock)
96 Eclipsestd=stock (now)
97 Malibu=stock (now)
next.......96 240sx std..............

if you're gonna street race now and then, at least get some decent competition. =p

and just to get mine in...
I ran my friend's '03 RSX type-S 6spd with injen cai and some kind of gay JDM catback he's got.

beat him once out of two runs from a dead stop, and absolutely destroyed him from a ~25mph rolling start.

p.s. - it's officially monday, time to lock this one~
