ECU not ready for inspection

ECU not ready for inspection
my 97 max has some CEL for knock and speed sensor, so I replaced those, reset the ECU, drive the car for 100 miles , go in for state inspection and their diagnostic computer querys the maxima ECU and detects that the Catalyst is not ready , EGR system not ready, Evaporative system not ready to be tested . so they said to drive around some more. Well, I came back after driving for another 120 miles and it still saying those things are not ready! Anybody has same experience? How long it takes, how many miles, after a ECU is reset for those things to be ready?
Thanks for any help.

happend to me as well. I ended up letting them just exhaust test me and I paseed, even with a y-pipe. They told me that if the computer is reset it takes a certin amount of miles before it can be checked. Don't know if that is true or not but that is what they said.

This happened to me, too, but the Jiffy Lube inspection station here in North Carolina said that, by law, they could not simply exhaust test the car. I think it was almost 500 miles after the knock sensor was replaced before the OBD would talk to the Jiffy Lube computer and pass inspection.
To Jiffy Lube's credit, they did not charge me for any inspection where the computer wasn't ready.
