Bulbs burning out with brighter clearance light mod?

Hey guys...this is the second time this has happend to me. I did the brighter clearance light mod where u shave off the little stub on the lightbulb, and reverse it, making it bright all the time. I did this once with hyperwhite bulbs, and only ONE of my bulbs burned out. I did it again with other bulbs that i bought from procarparts.com for 20 bucks to match my hids, and they burned out again.
Luckily, i called them and they are sending me replacement ones. However, i dont want this happening to me again.
So im just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this, or am i doing something wrong?

How long are the bulbs lasting?

I get that problem too. Mine last about 2-4 months. Sometimes these aftermarket bulbs have a higher wattage than stock which may explain why they burn out so quickly. This is just my theory.

I have had this mod for about 2 years. I only burned out one bulb and that was about 6 months ago. I'm using PIAA's.

don't cut the nub...there is no need for it.....just reverse it....you'll have to tilt the bulb but it'll fit in there nicely.....i've had mine for over 6 months and no problems...

i had mine around 1 year. at first i kept blowing fuses due to improper taping on the nuts. but after i fixed it with a new set of raybrigs hyperwhite, it hasn't failed me since then.

what brand of hyperwhite you have? IMO APC superwhite sux, polargs and raybrigs are better candidate.

might be your bulbs...

I just used stock bulbs that were in there (probably original 5 year old bulbs) and they've been in there 2 years, no problems... try using a stock wattage bulb and make sure you aren't touching the bulb w/ your hands (I know it's more of an issue w/ headlight bulbs but it can't hurt to try)

usually when you buy the 1157 bulb, it will say how long the bulb will last. at least it said on mine...

anyway yea that was just a minor detail to add on.

I took the corner lights out(ones right next to the headlight). They're not needed.I think they look goofy in the daytime b/c you just see an blue or orange blob behind the clear. And they never matched other lights perfectly at nite. Its just a cleaner look IMHO. Pop them out for a day and see if you like it...................

I've had mine rewired for over 6 months and had those bulbs in my car for over a year and no problems w/ burning out. Try a diff bulb (brand)

That is all it is, putting it in backwards basically. You coud rewire them however to blink w/ the blinkers, or even be the blinker instead
