Help intake manifold.

I have 1997 maxima gle.
When car is cold after night, I start the car it idling normally but once you put it in to the drive or reverse it dies. I let it worm up a little put in to the drive again and then my engine does multiple cylinder misfires it won't work properly I floor it and RPMS do not go up its dying, in 3 blocks or so after engine gets worm its working perfectly fine again. So I took it to the shop they couldn't find anything but they think its an intake manifold air get in to the cylinders..
Here is the question Can i change it myself if yes how. May be it’s only a gasket how many is there? Does any one else had this problem.
Please help.

That does not sound like an intake manifold gasket problem.

I recently changed my intake manifold from MEVI to stock (temporarily). When I did I wasn't careful and a wad of shop towel got caught at the gasket surface, making a pretty substantial air leak at the intake gasket. The symptoms were almost exactly like what newborn described.

The gaskets aren't very expensive, but it's labor intensive. I would expect to take about 5 hours. There are numrous gaskets that you will need. So the off top of my head here is a list...maybe other people can think of more.

TB gasket
EGR gasket
Upper to lower gasket
lower to block gasket.

The difficult part is getting to the intake manifold bolts on the backside of the engine. You pretty much have to do it by feel. They require a 12mm wrench. I went out and bought one of those ratcheting closed end wrenches specifically for those bolts. Same with the EGR bolts, although they are easier to see and get to after you remove the IAC. For those a 12mm socket is needed.
