Whats the difference , if any, between the 2001 AE 6 spoke
wheels and the 2001 SE 6 spoke wheels.

Also I've seen the SE wheels for sale but where is a good
place to find the AE 6 spoke wheels.

and whats the widest tire you can put on these safely
225/50 or 235/50?

Thanks,E

The difference

between the AE wheels and the SE wheels is that the AE wheels are polished. Not sure were to get them....and the basic rule for tires is that you can go up one size...ex. 225 to 235.....or 215-225. Most guys at tire places will know how big of tires you can put on without messing up your speedo.

.

Try to get them from a dealer, you might get lucky and someone might have wanted a different pair so they have them sitting around. I know typically a dealer would charge you $$$, but I know a guy who goes around gets cheap rims from jeeps and sells them to whoever for a lot more, although it's probably one of those who you know things.

If you don't know anyone who works at a dealer, well maybe try to work for one; I know it sound dumb, but during a job interview if you ask about employee discounts on parts, you never know it might be worth it to work at a dealer for a weeked or two to save a couple hundred dollars (maybe a lot more).

Other than that you could try a junk yard, but probably not a good idea since wheel might be bent or something and you can't see it/ don't notice. Or e-bay, try to get someone near you so you can go pick them up rather than pay $$$ for shipping. Here's someone selling four 2001 rims off an SE, not a AE

WOW Nate, you went to town for me. Thanks.

I like the idea about asking a dealer since they are the
ones I see selling alot of them on ebay.

I can't believe how much those wheels are up to on ebay.
Timing is everthing. I've seen some a while ago that where
much cheaper but did not pull the trigger because I'm still
not sure if I want them. I know I wouldnt want 215 tires on for long.

Anyway Thanks, E

Take a look at SWEETSOUND2001 He has SE wheels they look
good.

Then look at medicsonic He has AE wheels but they seem
different. I know its not a great pic. but they still
seem different.

Uh, the ones off of E-Bay ARE the AE rims. Notice how much shiner they are than the other 17" OEMs. For reference look at these:

as compared to these:

The first are AE rims, the second SE rims. Either one of these looks great, so if you can't get one, then get the other. Not too many people are going to know the difference anyway.

your right

Your right, it looks like the picture is of the AE ones, although the guy says he's selling the SE ones, so I bet that's what they are (Rather than him being ignorant and not actually know he was selling the AE and not the SE).

A lot of times people don't have a digi cam so they just snag a picture off of someone else’s auction that looks similar (I do it all the time). He probably didn't think anyone would notice a difference.

That's a perfect example of how the colors do differ, the AE ones defiantly look shinier/better, thanks.

You are right. I didn't even think about the posibility of them not being a picture of his own wheels. And the guy selling did go out of the way to not say AE rims. If anyone is bidding on them ASK THE SELLER about the AE vs. SE thing before bidding. Either rim looks hot though...

One more thing, about the ebay wheels.
I thought 6 spoke came with 225/50's not 215/50's.
I would want the wider tire.
could the 6 spoke wheel handle 235/50's?

I guess they would, but everyone is saying that the wider you go, the easier it is to get the tire to separate from the rim. The standard size is 225/50-17. SS2001, why do you want to get rid of them?
