I burned my headlight harness!!!!
I burned my headlight harness!!!!
I have a set of apc suprewhites in my car, and after about 6 months they just all of a sudden burned my harness to hell. they are always going out now. What all can i do. I do not want to get an H.i.D kit quiet yet. What are my options and what are the prices.
You were running overwattage bulbs?
Without a harness?
Sorry buddy, you'll just have to repair it. In most cases, the extent of damage is isolated to the connectors and the immediate branch, you can go to your local auto parts store and buy a 9004 connector repair kit and splice the new wire on.
It's not expenisve if you do it yourself. Check out your local auto parts store.

i can hok them up easy. i do not why everyone htinks apc is crap. I mean i would never buy their "performace parts" like there intakes and stuff. But you cannot complain about a light bulb. I like there light bulbs,( the way they look, not the way they burn my harness).
i did not know about this wattage thing when i bought them awhile ago. I have wised up much since then. I checked them every once in a while to make sure nothing happened. But all of a sudden after 6 months with no damge, it just melts the hell out of it.

APC bulbs are crap...at least for Honda's. When I had my Civic AND Integra I recieved free APC (nuff' said) bulbs and in both cars the bulbs exploded with in a week. Seemed to happen every week to someone else back at this Honda Board I use to frequently visit and belong to.

Bottom line. Stock wiring is not meant to handle high wattage bulbs. Get you self some headlight harness kit that's meant to run with those bulbs. There is another cheap solution that might work. Cut off the ground wire to the connectors and attach them to nearest piece of metal. That might reduce the heat enough that the connectors won't melt.
