Emblem residue

after shaving my emblems i have been having some trouble with the residue left behind.......so far i have been using bug and tar remover w/ a side of elbow grease but damn its taking forever..........any recommendations?

goop of or goo gone and the wash and wax and you a$$ will look as good as this

heat it up with a hair dryer, it should make it easier to take off

Rub the residue with gasoline. Thejn rub as much off as you can using your fingers. Afterwards, get some scratch remover to remove the "Outline" of the emblems from all the years of road debris and dirt. Then wash it, wax it, stand back and smile.

that is the worse idea i have ever heard... dont use gasoline on residue that is stuck to your car PAINT

I used it and it does not take off paint. Nor does it affect it in any way.

gasoline is bad for your clear coat. its not a smart idea to get it on your paint period.

its not sitting there for days on end if you wipe it on then wipe it off followed by washing and waxing it won't do anything

still a bad idea, period. Plenty of things like gas would take the residue off (lighter fluid, paint thinner, etc) but i would never put them on my car paint.

Then what do you do when you pull the gas pump out and it drips a little gasoline on your car?

Its not really a big deal. I can understand if it's poured all over the car and it just sits there. But not if it's a small amount and it's only on there for 5 minutes tops.

gas stations have paper towels at every pump. get some water from the squeege (sp?) thing, wipe it off.

exactly, wiping it off with water is even worse than washing with soap, then waxing. Just trying to prove a point. Gasoline is not that bad for it if it's on there for a short period of time.

rubbing mine with goo gone and bug and tar remover on a hot day made it all clean.

wrong. wiping a drop of gas off my car with soapy water is better than using a rag to rub gas ONTO my car. i still wouldnt do it or recomend it.

I did mine this past weekend, I took off my gold emblems and swapped with silver, I used goo gone, spray it a couple of times, and let it soak. Then just work it off with your fingernail (*gross but it works). Trust me, hey does anyone know what I should use to put back the M-A-X-I-M-A in silver, I was thinking double sided tape, traced out and stuck to the letters, and place them back in order? Any advice?
