Exhaust paint

I have a pace setter monza cat back, but its not on the car yet. It has a black paint coating on it, but Ive heard from many users that it peels off quickly and your exhaust starts to rust. Is there any way for me to sand the current paint off and go buy some paint that fights rust so I can atleast prevent it from rusting on the outside? What kind of paint should I get and where is it found?

Don't bother putting that trash on your car. PACESETTER is HORRIBLE. It will fall off in a few months. They are really that bad, many horror stories. Just try to sand off the paint and maybe use chassis paint or really HIGH TEMP exhaust paint.

Meh, I dont care that it is crap...I got it for free. My stock exhaust is good but I'd rather save the stock one for when I go to sell the car. I really don't see how bad it could be, Its made from the same material as all other exhausts...

I don't know about the same material thing. Why do other exhausts cost twice as much then? Any way just sparay the whole thing with a high temp paint and then chassis paint on top.

Well this is alluminum alloy. The ones you talk about that are twice as much are stainless steel. Anyway, thanks MaxedOutOfCash

Agree that pacesetter is **** but if its free its all good. For that matter if its free why do you care how long it lasts.
