Suspension Question

I got my max a few months ago. Dude who I bought it from replaced the struts with aftermarket gle/gxe struts just before I bought it. I know se and gxe/gle have different suspension set ups, but how are they different? Springs? Struts? Both? Also I don't want to replace brand new struts so how much improvement in handling would I see, if any, if I just got performance lowering springs (H&R or something similar)?

Thanks.

pretty shure the SE have stiffer spring rates than the gxe/gle. Usually when you get any aftermarket lowering spring, you will want to repalce the struts with aftermarket ones that can handle the drop. H&R are not that low so you might get away with stock struts for awhile before they give out.
