Where is the sensor that activates the trunk light?

i dont know exactly but i took out the latch assembly (the one in the trunk not on the trunk lid) on a 3rd gen. Well the light never went out when you close the trunk compleatly. Maybe the latch mechanism connects to ground and brakes the connection. But i know for sure that the light does not go out when you take out the latch.

Interesting question.. I would suspect on the latch too.. However, there could be a button on the trunk where if the button comes out (Ex: its laid flat ona flat surface) the light comes on...

I took a quick look in there the other day, and could see no sensors anywhere. That led me to believe that the sensor was part of the latch. So maybe it is really there?

Ive been all over the trunk.....no button. It has to be in the latch on the trunk lid. Id go outside but its like 20* out.

So simple its tough.
