need help with rear brakes

need help with rear brakes

i am going to be replacing the rear rotors and pads on my 99 max. when i take the caliper off do i use a c-clamp to spread it open like i do for the fronts or do they turn in? anything else i need to know on how to do rear brakes on the max. thanks

i think you need a special tool for the back ,you the thing in the caliper that you press in to put the pads on will for the back it turns and you need a special tool a least it was like that for my 97:comfused:

Or you can use needle nose pliers to turn them in...remember turn CLOCKWISE to push piston in.

yeah just use neednose pliers and turn them clockwise, you will see that the rubber piece doesn't want to turn, but keep on turning it anyways until the rubber piece starts moving. After you get it to the certain point turn the caliper counterclockwise until the rubber piece is back to it's normal shape and make sure that one of the notches on the caliper is facing down (it took me half an hour to figure out why my brakes don't wonna go on!!!).

That notch has to "marry" with another notch on the pad back plate. Easily explained when you look at both parts together.
