Installed Blue LED's in my climate control today... *pics*

yep, just as the subject title says. it took me a while, but i got it done. am not happy with it though... i want it to be brighter... i think i am going to make my own housing so the led sits closer to the button, and sits striaght. the "Temp" button is very bright, and i have no idea why. i want all of them to look like that. well, i'll stop talking... here are the pics.

Any help on why the "Temp" button is so much brighter then the rest? thanks.

looks good, but you should have used thinner wire. And the temp thing happens to everyone the reson being that LEDs focus light and have a small viewing angle.

if you want to see mine i did them differently:

Heh, you going to laugh, but it took me approx. 4 hours to do. i just took my time like i did with all my other projects. and the site with a write up was down, so i had to do it with out any help. getting the unit out was easy, but soldering a ton of wires was the time consuming part.

it can not be that the led is closer because of the way the Led harness is setup. they are all in equal distance from the buttons. the only thing i can think of, is that the button is "right on top" of the led, so the light does not have to travel anywhere by "light channels". you would know what i mean if you have taken apart your gauges.

HEY! don't make fun of my wiring!!! lol. i actually did a really good job, but i did a really bad job of wire management, and the liberal use of elec. tape.

one time was enough... lol

thank you very much for posting that... it makes me feel alittle better now. but it still bother me alittle... i hope i can fix it! and can you tell me how you did your rear defroster button? where did you make room for the resistor in the case? i took them apart, and they went right back together... lol.

dont bother with the BOSE it uses surface mount LED's, and for the defrost i twisted the resistor it to an S-shape, it a tight fit but it works, you can also put the resistor in the wire that goes into the defroster, i wish i had thought of that back when i did mine.

y such big wire for LED's? Does the temp not use the light channels? I didn't do mine yet, so I really can't help you with it, but i'm doin mine soon so i'll let you know how it goes altohugh i have manual CC

I can do LED changes, as can Chris also (obviously), I think he was trying to do them anyway for PPL. I was thinking just take out the boards for the LED's so ppl can still use there window switches, at least on the drivers side you can do that, I think the others are different.

If someone can do it for me PM me...I would really love to have Hyper White switches...I guess my real problem is that the current light is so dim! Can I make it brighter?? Is the bulb green or the actual buttons.

How did you change the color of the climate control screen? I need to do that cause mine is all green, while the rest like my clock and **** are blue.

i used 330ohm resistor for Blue and White leds, it can change depending on the LED's and the voltage they run at.

Well, that is the only kind of wire i had in the house... and my car was already apart... so i used it. i was left with no choice.

He got to it before i did. there you go!

but you can use this web site to figure out what value resistor you have to use:

enjoy.

Um, im not sure what geo was talking about, so i may be reposting an idea. But you could use a small resistor to drop the voltage level traveling to the one "temp" LED, so it would therefore be more dim. It would be relatively simple, but the trick would be getting the correct OHM resistor.

Another LED project chris? you're a machine

Thanks SXN.

i think i am just going to leave it be... every time i look at it, i want to fix all of them to make them all bright... so it will eventually make me mad enough to rip it apart... AGAIN. lol

and yes! i guess i am a led machine! thats what happens when i don't have a job or a girl friend. (although my phyco ex is more then a handfull at times. )

my plan is to catch up with affrillo eventually.......... yeah, ok, it woun't happen. but a guy can try right? lol

well, you have done a lot of the interior. he has done only exterior (primarily) up until now with the "shift light" thing. just keep up the good work, let the inspiration take you where it will.
