Suspension Question

I'm pretty set on buying Tein S-Tech's and either KYB AGX's or Tokico Illuminas but was wondering what else I needed. I have heard dust boots and bump stops, but am not really sure what they do, where to get them, cost, etc.. Any help would be greatly appreciated...THX

You can buy your regular dust boots, at any local Autozone or Napa. Since you have KYB's you can look on cattman.com. They have the dust boots precut for the KYB shocks. They are $78 shipped. With some tokico shocks, the shocks are made to use the OEM dust boots so you could save some money there. Hope this helps and good luck with your suspension. If you want some more info, check this out http://maxmods.dyndns.org/index.php?MaximaHandling.

I will look up the link for the suspension parts you need. The thing I wanted to let you know is that you should go with the Illuminas. The ride with H&R and AGX's is already pretty stiff, I can only imagine how much that will be amplified with the use of springs that lower the car more. I suggest that you use OEM components, except for the KYB dustboot/bumpstops, they are already shortened.

They cover the exposed piston/rod of the strut. If dirt and graver accumulate around the base of the strut, where the piston comes out of, it will scratch the metal, you struts will eventually leak as this ruffed up surface scratches the inner seals of the struts. The top of the dustcover has an integrated bumstop (made of a semi-hard spongy material) , this protects the struts from metal to metal contact when the car suspension bottoms out. That way your struts can last you a good while.

so do I just have to buy one thing that will do this? Or do I have to buy bump stops and dust boots?

The KYB dustboots from Cattman already have the bumpstops built in. Just buy the complete set, 4 of them.

If you want, also, you can buy motivational rear struts mounts which will increase the suspension travel in the rear. I think that this may give you a more comfortable ride in the rear

Good advice on the Motivational mounts. I plan to do this in the near future, when I have some time to do it.

They give the car one inch of suspension travel back for the rear, after it has been lowered. I have H&R springs which lower my car 1.3" in the rear, after I install the Motivational mounts I will get almost all of the suspension travel I lost except for .3" . This all adds up to a much smoother ride.
