Installed my HIDs
#5
Paid around $300 for them. No I didn't bother taking any pics. I was so ****ed that I took em out 10 minutes after I put them in. No matter how I tried to aim them there were just patches of light scattered all over the ground and that made the visibility even worse than the stock bulbs. Unless they come out with projectors (which is probably never) don't even think about installing HIDs in a 4th gen Max.

to start off.....aim your headlights all the way down (as much as possible) then. . . depending on your installation but i can turn my bulb right and left and that adjusts the pattern. . . i have it set in the middle and the pattern is ok (for a nonprojector headlight) if I turn my bulb to the right the pattern is all over the place and impossible to see right. . . maybe you should have thought a little before taking them out. . .
I hope you know what I mean by turning the bulb. .

I just went through an HID install on my car over the christmas break and I couldn't stand the light scatter. It was so bad that I took out the bulbs the next night and went back to stock until I can correct the problem. I, just like almost everyone in the 4th gen forum, would love a set or projectors but, I have no time to make a custom set of my own.
I was thinking of making, and tell me if this has been done, a sleve made out of metal to put over th bulb and block either the top or bottom of the light (which ever side puts more light down on the road and less in the trees). I have read on a few web sites of people doing this. Maybe it might work. Let me know if any one else has a better idea for HIDs in stock housings until projectors are made.

Ever since i installed my Hanabi 6,000k Purple kit over a year ago the beam pattern on the street at night is literally 100x better than any standard bulb that i had in before... They blow away(color wise and intensity) ANY factory HID system out there and i have compared with everything from an '02 max, to a '03 Lexus and to an 03' Escalade.
and BTW what year is your max??

Wow.. Philips is supoose to up there when it comes to HIDs. Philips and Hella. I started a poll a week ago but no one wanted to vote...
Anyways, I'm in the market for my HIDs and found a site that sells the Bohmen 5000k kit for $409. The fact of the matter is you won't get a pattern like this:
until you install a projector lens and as of now I've only seen geo and indigo with projectors, both done custom and only one willing to produce them for us. I'm still buying the Bohmen 5000k kit and in a month or two I'll use indigo's projectors. It'll probably hit me up around $750 when all is said and done, but it'll look like that pic above. Remember, these housings were not designed for HIDs and the scatter is immense. You can't buy HIDs and expect them to look like non-projector cars like a Navi, Escalade, IS300, etc. Those housings are designed for HIDs and the scatter is far less.
Who knows how long Umnitza will take for them. Only indigo has shown us pics, patterns, and prices... so he's got my sale.

and as far as new cars come. . . there is so many factory cars that are blinding as heck on the road. . . I was driving in front a new jaguar the other day, and he even had projectors in there.... still blinded me so much that I let him go in front of me. . .
And the new SUV's??? they are the ones that shouldn't be allowed to drive with their hid's on...

mayb i'll take a pic of my beam pattern from my 4300k kit from HIDKITS.COM. I think because of the fact that they customize the bulb, my 9004 beam pattern might be slightly better than most kits. I think i need to lower my headlights a little more since people get ****ed at the glare.
I dunno about you, but i would never go back to halogen.
