Side marker...one is brighter than the other, why?

Hey all. Since I have had my car I noticed that one side marker was brighter than the other. I thought one of the bulbs was dying so I went ahead and bought some 1157 APC cool white bulbs and went to install them. After installation I noticed the same thing...The passenger side bulb is really bright and the drivers side is quite low. Whats up with this?

Side marker? I thought that they were wedge bulbs..

Or do you mean corner light? If so, perhaps one side is stuck on the bright filament, and the other is set to the dim filament??

The lights right next to the headlights...I though they were called side markers and the ones that light up when you make a turn were called corner lights...Anyway, it looks nasty with one brighter than the other...

The lights next to the headlights (whatever they're called) do light up when flick your turn signal. They light up brighter because they are dual filiment bulbs, kinda like your headlight bulbs. as to why one is brighter than the other, I have no idea. I'm in the process of putting polarg's in mine, but I can't get the damn housing off!! Any ideas, tricks, recommendations from anyone???

Are we talking about the same bulb? The ones next to the headlight (1157) are always lit when my headlights are on. The cornering lights are the ones that light up when you put on your turn signal and I am not having a problem with those...

on where ur turning has nothing to do with the turn signal"the one on the bumper")

Okay, look at that link...Are you talking about the housing directly next to the headlight on a 95? If you are, then this is the dual filiment bulb that is dim, then gets brighter when you apply your turn signal. It doesn't blink, it just gets brighter to help you see the corner of a curb or whatever. For that purpose, I call it a cornering light, some call it a clearance light. Whatever you call it, it gets brighter when you use your turn signal. It doesn't automatically turn on when you are going around a turn with no turn signal on, only when you use the turn signal. Now, is that the one that you are talking about? If it is, look at the one that is always brighter than the other, then flick on your turn signal (with the car on) for that particular side. If it doesn't get any brighter, you need to check it out. I'm not good with lighting and wiring, so I can't say what's wrong, but try replacing the bulb.

Yes. I am talking about that one...the one that has the arrow pointed saying "M14"...Anyway, I went out an did that "test" and you are right...So why is the drivers side always dim vs. the passenger side?

My passenger side is brighter than the driver side b/c it's wired backwards. When you do the brighter corner light mod, you "flip" the bulb around, but now the wires are flipped so you don't have to do nothing to make it brighter.

After my dad bought the car, I found out that it had been hit on that side and the repair shop rewired it that way. Right now, I have the brighter corner light mod on my driver side only to match the passenger side.

When the weather gets better, I'll rewire the driver side so I don't have to cut the nubs off of the bulbs anymore

I came across this that I found in the how-to section...according to VQPower, 95-96 Clear Corner "Rewire" -- Making it Brighter:
http://www.vqpower.com/v2/modules.ph...howpage&pid=50

If I do this on just the drivers side (the dimmer one) will it be the same brightness as the passenger side??

Try to reground hte clearence light. I regorunded my headlights and now they are both even, so you should try this for the clearence lights.

Yea that's what I did. Now, both match just fine I'll rewire the driver's side the real way when the weather gets better

Hmmm...I think I will do that today. Hey Jatan, did you just do the passenger side to match the drivers side? Or did you do the proceedure on both?

My passenger side is alrdy bright. I did it to the driver's side only.

The 1157 bulb is 5w and 21w (I think). The stock setup runs on the 5w, but now it'll run on the 21w (that's why it's brighter).
