I've got an idea... fog light wiring... Is this possible?
Here's the situation: I just recieved my fog light kit in the mail from jerryromenissan. I have a totally stripped down GXE, no power seat etc, therefore my car shouldn't be pre-wired for fog lights. I don't know a whole lot about wiring but my idea is instead of finding the plugs / whatever else is needed for the install, I would just cut the plug off the sidemarker light (next to the blinker) and wire it directly to the fog lights. I know this isn't a totally independant re-wire or anything, but it's a fairly easy solution since I don't have bulbs in the sidemarker lights anyways. If everything goes according to plan, what should happen is my fogs will turn on whenever I have my parking lights on, and stay on with my hi-beams. At the same time, I won't be able to turn them off without turning my headlights off, but I'm not too concerned with this.
My questions is, will I need to replace any fuses to handle the higher load of the fog lights, or should this work pretty much exactly how I described it. It seems straight forward enough in theory... as I'm just connecting positive to positive and neg. to neg.

I don't think you should have any problems with doing it that way. It is actually a unique/different idea. There is no fuse that I know of right now that deals specifically with the corners, but there is one for the parking lights. I wouldn't worry too much about upgrading the fuse, at least not till the one in there blows. It may never.
good luck with it

that would be a good way, you kinda hve them rewired...nice thinkin
Ok, great... hopefully things will warm up a bit here in NY so I'll get a chance to try everything out. I can't wait to see the Narva rally gold 85w's next to my 6000k HIDs... the front end of my car is going to be mean looking.
I really dont think it will work. The side markers are 5 watts, while the fogs are 55 watts. I don't think the wiring is large enough to support the wattage without melting (unless Nissan used all the same gauge wire). If so what you could do is wire a relay using the wire from the parking lights as your switched power, then running new, say 14 awg wire, straight from the battery (fused) to the relay then to the fogs. Then just ground the relay. Since you said you were not good with wiring you probably have no idea what I mean, but its better to rewire it. I have an upgraded headlight harness and its awsome, I need to to the fog lights too. You won't regret it.
I agree with the post above ....the side marker wiring was not designed to support the load of the fog lights....and if you are going to run 85w bulbs you need to rethink the wiring....if you are going to do your own wiring....go to the parts store and buy a 30amp fog light (bosch) relay use 10 gauge wire to power the relay and 12 gauge to the fog lights you can use the + wire from the side markers to turn the relay on....note alot of the relays have a wiring diag on the carton...good luck
^ Yeah I'm just sorta hoping that the side marker lights have the same gauge wire as the wires coming directly off the h3 harness' on the fogs, I haven't gotten a chance to look at it yet. I actually already have a fog light relay that came with the kit, along with the blinker stalk with the fog light switch built in. What I am missing is the wire/plug that goes from the relay (I think?.. or where ever else..) to the lower portion of my bumper. I'm not experienced with wiring, but at the same time, I'm not stupid and can generally figure things out, so is there a way I can just plug in that relay, and run a pair of wires down to the bumper?
