I would say rip it out and check and replace as you go. I don't have the search option and haven't found a how to to rip it out but thats what did with my speedo. It was going on and off so I ripped it out and replaced the bulbs. Turns out it was just the bulbs being loose in the holders. Good luck

I've done this to hook up my stereo. You stick a flat head screwdrive w/ a cloth into the side of the console, where you have your clock, and emergency lights, and defogger. Push down on the console should pop off, be careful thou. Now you have the top portion off. Now you need to take off the part where you shift stick is at, same procedure, it should snap off. From there you almost done, on the top portion of the console, where your problem is orginating. You have two screws, but you have three more in the bottom, you'll see two after you take off the plastic on the shift. 1 will be right next to the ash tray.Open your ash tray, take it out, and inside there is a little screw, on the left side, look for it, and un screw it. You now will be able to pull out the console completly with the stereo and a/c connected. You can/should unplug all the harnesses when you take it out, and work from there. hope it helps
