My Bose radio in my car has stopped showing it's display. It still plays cd's and the radio works. Anyone with any ideas please help.

You can look on Ebay for one that is the same as yours. This way you can just get an OEM replacement and not have to the replace the head unit and speakers.

mine does it pretty often. sometimes it lights up in a minute, sometimes 10... My original Bose CD went out 2 years ago, so i bought a used one from one of the org.ers, and that one's CD went out within a month... the radio and tape still work, so i use the tape adaptor to play CDs. too much hassle for me to go through the center console to put another one in.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Maxima Bose radios...happens often. Mine died 2 days after I got my car. I hit up eBay and got a 99 Bose Headunit that looks a lot better than the 95-96 and now I am cruising...Only 140! Do it eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeebay!

How to fix a display problem:
http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=267550

Basically you have to resolder connections on the power board from your bose headunit.

My Bose unit's display went out, I fixed it, and it works great now!

I sent my BOSE to a BOSE repair place in Florida. For $160 (including shipping back to me) they went through the entire unit resoldering common connection problems and they install a new CD laser plus it comes with a full 1 year warranty. My BOSE suffered from the infamous ERR error which didn't let me play CDs. For the money I spent, I'm happy because the BOSE really does look good in the dash and sounds great for a stock system.

That link (http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=267550 Basically you have to resolder connections on the power board from your bose headunit) doesn't show the fix any more. Any direction on removing the radio, disassembly and which area to solder?

Hi there yes I know this was an old post about radio displays.Saw the old posts on re soldering etc.tried this and it wasn't the complete answer.Had this car since new and it really bugged me that's why i had another go.I also replaced the back light globe with a green led looks even better. It has been a while since I did this so believe it to be a definite fix.I would have to say this is the best and most reliable car I have owned that's why I've still got it, done 287000 kms
