Deal? [99 SE-L 5 Spd]
I found a 1999.5 SE-L 5 Speed for $12500 for sale by a private party near me. Thing is in pretty good condition too. It has Silver Mist with a Black Interior and 40,000 miles. It also has leather seats, moonroof, heated seats, heated mirrors, bose 6 disc cd changer, comes with 2 sets of tires, a bra, and Airfilter System along with a Rear Sway Bar and Springs. It looked pretty clean is this a good deal? Also what should I look for when inspecting the vehicle, last time we did more of a 'quick' scan and we drove it a little (my dad did since I can't drive 5 speed yet). Also I'm looking to buy soon since I just totalled my 1996 Ford Explorer by getting Rear Ended by a Semi in a Whiteout. If I buy within 30 Days, insurance will cover some taxes and fees.
Thanks (you guys are the real experts)

We'll we talked to him and he said 13000 originally then my dad said 12750, and i just sent him a email and said 12350 and he replied saying this:
Hi Jason,
Thanks for the offer. I would also like to work something out for you so
you get a nice car and I don't have to advertise mine. If you can go up
$150 to $12,500 I think we can work a deal. Your thoughts?
I don't think I can go much lower, i mean this thing is in pristine condition, only problem is its going to be a stretch in the 'funds' department as I am in college out of state and have to pay mad cash, looks like ill be mowing lawns all summer, but hey it might be worth it to splurge. My 96 Explorer costed 12-13k when I got it 3 years ago. I guess you get what you pay for
btw nismos how much did ya pay for yours, i wish i could find a 97 or 98 with miles like this, might drop the price a little.

Thats a pretty good deal, I'd go for it. . . but have a mechanic look at it, you never know what could be wrong with it (even with low miles). Also if you plan to modify it, check if it is Fed Spec or Cali Spec, Cali spec is a little harder to mod than Fed Spec.

Good deal if you ask me. I paid $14000 a year ago for mine when it had 29k on it loaded as yours but no heated seats, but oh well on that one.
I forgot how to check for fed but I know its if there are 2 or 4 sensor deals up by the radiator is how i know

read the faq it tells u how to check for cali or fed..... i think when u open the hood the metal tag that has all the info on it like vin and paint # look on second line 12th character if v - cali if u- than fed if n- than nither i think but check the faq to be sure

for miles it's a good deal i guess i just bought mine like 3 month ago if not less it's a 1999 SE Silver but no leather and stuff with 97k for 8,500 but it's almost hundred miles and yours is with 40 so go for it but like people said check with mechanic underneath because the person could've rolled off miles even if it's electronic odometer it's still possible to roll off the miles so look into it ...

You had better snach that great deal up before someone else who is really smart does. That is an awesome car. It is right in line with the price, esp. for the low miles. I bought my 1999 SE_L in March of last year, for 11,300, but it already had 65,500 miles on it. At that time, I was still under the private party value. Mine has everything that you said except heated seats, and 6-disc changer. I have leather and all other goodies. You are good to go if you get that thing for $12, 300 and with only 40,000 miles..............WOW!
Awesome color too! You will never regret it! So, what are you waiting for? Get that car!!!
(be sure to check it out like the others said though. Just have your dad check the tightness of the clutch, belts, a/c. You know, the typical stuff. There is not much that could be wrong with a 4th gen with only 40,000 miles on it other than that. They would have to have been riding it really hard to wear out the clutch already.

haha, well i made him an offer we'll see how it goes, i dont like just paying what he says, gotta negotiate a LITTLE i mean thats part of the buying process. I told im 12350 if he accepts then itll be mine :-) since insurance will pay for taxes and fees it will be a swheet deal i think, just the fact some people got theirs under 10k is kinda interesting, i wish i could find a 97 or 98 like this but unfortunately i cant wait when buying and would prolly settle for this

i bought my 99 se 5spd sterling mist with all the same options as you about 1.5 years ago with 39000K for 15000. i purchased it certified at a very large dealership however, not from a private party. and it was spotless as well because it was the main showroom car. so your deal seems right i would say go for it, it sounds very good -

It's a pretty fair price, they are hard to come by so you have to take that into consideration. I got a great deal on my 99 SE-L. I bought it in April of 2001 with 17,000 miles on it and I only paid $17,000 loaded with leather, bose, moonroof, etc... I flew 800 miles to Oklahoma City to get it. It's money well spent, but like someone mentioned already, it is very wise to have a mechanic just double check everything.

yeah, i would kill for that car, i live in canada, and have never seen a Se-l up here, and i almost bought a 99se with 107,000 km, which is.... 64,000 mi for $14,000 cdn, which is.... 11,000. so yeah, that is a good deal i think, cause it's got a lot less km's, and it's an Se-l with options!
