Does anyone know anything about the Quaife?

I was recently talking with the guys at Maximumtuning about a 5-speed swap and I mentioned that I would be going either Turbo'd or SC'd, I havn't really decided yet. But he told me that it would be a good idea to put a Quaife on my car while the transmission was already out. He said that it would help put all of the power to the ground. My question is, does anyone know anything about the Quaife. Does it really work that well at all or is it just a waste of money. Is it any better or worse than some of the other forms of LSD. If anyone with experience with it or knows someone that is using it or just anyone that knows anything at all about it could please help me, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I have heard that it is better than a VSLD. Because LSD means that there is still slip. People have told me that there is no slip with the Quaife.

I still think it would be cheaper and safer to get I30 tranny. Hold up is qualife an actual seperate LSD, or is it like phantom grip. If it's an actuall LSD then it won't eat up your spider gears, but it will be damn fu{ken expensive!!!

Quaife is an actual seperate LSD unit. Increases the handling of the car and help puts power down to both wheels.

Quaife UK is known in racing circles worldwide for their all-gear ATB differentials. The Quaife’s unique design gives the Maxima incredible power transfer off the line and through corners; an advantage in any 5-speed Maxima, but required for S/C’d, turbo or N2O-equipped engines. Lifetime guarantee by Quaife, including racing use. More info at www.quaifeamerica.com. Cattman Performance sponsored development of the Quaife Maxima application and is the sole distributor.

but I30 tranny does exact same thing, so since he is doing a 5 speed swap it would be cheaper for him to get I30.

UNCDood, how do you like your VSLD. If you had to answer ABK's question of going with the Quaife or I30 tranny what would you do. Do you think that VSLD is better than the Quaife. Thanks. By the way in answer to ABK's question about the Quaife it costs $1300 if I'm not mistaken.

It doesn't do the same exact thing. The quaife is a real gear driven differential. The I30 tranny will do no better in a straight line than a regular tranny. Most any maxima here will leave two black strips on the pavement. The I30 LSD tranny will help in the turns, but it is nowhere near the abilities of the quaife.

who told you that Bsh!t?

I own a quaife people. The quaife replaces your stock differential. It is all metal gear driven differential. It will plant all the power to the ground. The LSDs have clutches in them. I dont like clutches I prefer steel metal driven gears. Just my opinion. If you cant get a I30 tranny you can always buy shadows LSD which is the same **** as the I30 crap except you dont have to replace your axles etc...Quaife also comes with full lifetime warranty

I agree the quaife and other true LSD's are far superior to VLSD's and other similar types. But for straightline dragstrip wouldn't a set of slicks be a much better investment at 1/3 the price?

I corrected myself later on, I thought that qualife was that gay phantom grip thing.
