Charging cooling problems with Underdrive
Hey I see most people are running the Underdrives.. However I was always under the impression that running an underdrive pully massivly slowed down your alternator and water pump.. Have any of you had charging or cooling probelms when running these under drive pulleys. If not what one do u recomend. And is it worth the power gain.. Thanks Rich
Your water pump is driven by the timing chain, not the alternator belt, so it won't be changed at all.
Your alternator will become slightly under-driven, but it shouldn't be a problem unless you've got some crazy stereo that draws all your alternator currently produces.

Well, I haven't used the cooling system yet seeing as its winter(I hate cold/snow) but the power draw/alternator seems to be fine but I have a cap. Its only 15% smaller so if there is an issue it would only be at idle, but many people have gotten this and attest to the fact that it doesn't effect any accessories.
sometimes if u change out ur stock flywheel or a udp, u would have to make the motor balance out, so if u change out the udp which is light weight and smaller, u would have to do the same thing to the other side of the motor which is change out the flywheel to a lighter weight so then there wouldn't be any crankshaft flex.
has anyone else had to do this
Hey I was wondering if anyone else has had bad experiences of just chaning out the pulley.. Because I know if you change out flywheel you should get the whole engine rebalanced... Thats spendy.... Let me know guys
