ABS light is on after huge snowstorm. . . help me.

When I started my car today it was fine, except for it being totally covered with snow, and then afterwards when I attempted to use it's power to plow through 3 feet of snow that my incompitent University's snowplow pushed into my car, the ABS light came on. What would cause this, did I hurt a sensor by forcing through the snow? Should the light go away after a couple days? Any insight on this? Or should I just being it to the stealership and bend over?

My sensor has gotten tripped from driving in the snow with low traction a couple of times. When it has, the light doesn't come back on the next time I start up my car. Does it keep coming back lit?

I restarted my car once, and the light came back on. I will try tomorow again. . I hope it doesnt come back on. I wouldnt mind not having ABS, but that light on the dash kills me every-time I see it lit.

I heard the e-brake can freeze up in the cold, that could be it? But u should always use your e-brake so your calipers dont freeze up.

Sometimes ABS or TC gets confused if you have had episodes of wheel spin from driving in the snow, or beating the hell out of it. Usually cycling the ignition on and off will reset it.

Do you guys actually have TC? I trip my light on all the time when I slide and use my brakes along with my handbrake to correct. All you do is after you are done you turn off the car and start it back up...

my light came on too (alot of tire spinning) and stayed on after restarting the car, but after i finally got out of snow and started driving, the second abs engaged the light went off.

Happened to me too the other day, only the 2nd time in 6 years. I thought the car had to reach 25 mph on dry pavement or something, but it doesn't seem to be the case. Because mine turned off as soon as I left a stoplight on dry pavement, AS SOON AS the car moved, so the 25 mph theory isn't true. Long story short I think the car has to be back on reasonably dry pavement to reset. Waiting a day or a week doesn't make any diff.
