need help..vibration at 80 mph
not trying to double post...for some reason nothing came up on my other thread...anyways...my car starts vibrating really bad at about 80 mph...i got the car alligned and tires rotated and balanced and my car still vibrates a lot...could it be my brakes?? cuz my tires are in pretty good shape as far as i know...thanks..btw 98 se auto
I've had the same problems with my 95 SE; worst vibration was around 65, showed up again around 74-75, then smoothed out...
I think that the Maxima is just a sensitive car when it comes to front suspension. With so many components this can be a very hard problem to diagnose and totally fix...
Of course check your alignment and wheel/tire balancing. I found that getting new tires helped dramatically. I also needed a new hub bearing on the driver's side front (with the car off the ground, grab the wheel at 12 o'clock and 6 o'clock - if there's any play in or out, the bearing is probably going - or the ball joints). My vibration didn't go away totally, but it's very manageable. Has a lot to do with the type of pavement, etc. For a 9 year old car, I'm happy with it. With a lot of miles, it's hard to totally fix this problem without replacing the entire front-end.
Some people luck out and find the one thing that is causing their vibrations: Could be warped rotors or other brake issues, CV joints, ball joints or control-arm bushings... any number of things. Good luck!

I have been having the same problem. I put the KYB shocks on and it hasn't been the same since. Vibration and a really rough ride. I think some of my problem could be coming from the after market mounts I put in. The two must not be playing well together.
I tried new tires and that still didn't help. I am thinking of going with the Tokico's with OEM mounts. Any thoughts?

DANG IT> I forgot what balencer that needs to be used. I just got it done. If MZMTG responds to this thread he will tell you what brand balencer needs to be used. They have a website that tell you what places in your area have them. Maybe up can PM him.

You went to a one with the StraightTrak LFM? I have no vibration, but I got tire pull so I'll probably be re-balancing them this spring/summer. The StraightTrak LFM says it fixes the tire pull stuff
I guess I'll price everything out and go to the cheapest
Mine place had the GSP 9700

I went to the site and couldn't figure out how to find a local business that used this technology. Any ideas?
Thanks...
