starter motor problem?

starter motor problem?
HEy all-
This problem just started last night. I went to start my car, turned the key, and the engine hesitated but then turned on. Weird. Then today I go to start it and it takes like a 3 second turn to get the engine to turn over. I am guessing I need a new starter motor? Does anyone know if this is something I can do myself? Also, how much would a shop charge to do it?

If you do have to replace it, it's an easy job. Check out http://www.motorvate.ca/mvp.php/516 for pictures. The article is for starter repair but it's an easy guide to see how it's removed.
