Man, from reading other opinions in the past I thought for sure my drivers side wheel bearing was shot. Symptons were a squeel/groan type of noise when turning to the right at speeds above 30mph (swerving) and at times when slowing down. The drivers side axle had already been changed so it wasn't the cv. So I went through all the trouble of pulling the hub and luckily a mechanic friend pressed out and put the new one in for nothing. But now I put it back in and SAME NOISE. AHHHHHH!

Any suggestions. It definately sounds front drivers side but I guess it could be anywhere up front. Swerving to the right would mean drivers side bearing, right? Hope I didn't change the wrong one. I'm frustrated and dont want to go to a dealer! Might have no choice though.

Thanks

Get someone to stand outside your car and listen as to where the noise is coming from. That sounds so much like my wheel bearing when it went. Maybe its coming from the passenger side??

How did the bearing and hub look when it was pulled? I know that is frustrating...I currently have my steering knuckle and hub removed and that is not a fun job. Have you checked the stut bearing?

My friend who pushed out the old bearing and put in the new one said he thought the old one seemed ok when he pulled it but that its sometimes tough to tell without a load on it. It definately wasn't scored or showing any out of the ordinary wear he said. I haven't told him that it didnt fix anything yet!

both strut bearings were just changed so its not that. this is a project car by the way so its not being driven currently. i picked it up for $800 with multiple problems to sort out and learn.
