what would i need to buy to do this conversion - just the trunk lid or would i need other things- help me out
From what I've heard it's a direct swap. But two things to consider:
1) The lights are reversed and you would have to switch the taillights as well as the light harnesses
2) The bumper's are slightly different and any maxima enthusiast would notice the imperfection

Um. If you look at the back of the 95-96 taillights you'll notice that they're different. The 95-96 lights have a "tray" where the wire harnesses plug into and on the other side is where the bulbs are. The 97-99 have two holes. One for each bulb. The bulbs are in there with that "twist" motion like the bumper lights and corner lights. Originally Posted by 95maxcntrljrsy

The only way I could see that you wouldn't need a harness is if you can locate the piece that holds the bulb and see if the original wire harness will plug into it

try and find Clive "max4u" he swapped the front and rear off his 96 to a 99 style. Im sure he'd be willing to answer any questions you have before doin this.
