removing grille

removing grille

so iwas going to do the ae headlights today but i couldnt get the stupid grille off! i know that you have to turn that little square "screw" thing but i cant seem to get a flathead in to turn it nor can i turn it from behind. HELP! i have the paint sitting in my garage and my lights are begging to be painted.

you dont twist it...they are popped off with a flat head from in front of the mounting clip you are referring to...use a slim flat head and wedge it from the front portion of the grill and that pair of diamonds will compress and the grill will pop forward slightly...then you can remove it with some mild pressure.

THANK YOU! although i think i may be a little confused. so from the front of the grille wher ei can see the diamonds, i stick a flat head in that small hole and pry, or do i pry from the top of the grille?

when i did my ae's i didnt pull the grill out. i just left it in there but i had to twist it sideways a bit.

i'm also trying to remove my grill, but having problems. wizzamax, i'm having trouble picturing what you're saying about putting a flathead in the front portion of the grill where the diamonds are. could you possibly post a pic of what we're supposed to be looking for? thanks

well good for you, you still have a problem getting it off.....i was just stating it is not that hard just go out there and try.

i tried for a while and still couldnt get it...although i didnt try to pry or pull on it like you guys said to do because i was afraid of breaking it. guess i should give it a go.......

yea just stick a flat head between the grill and body of the car where the connectors are and just pry them out....then just take the grill my the painted bar in the middle of it and just pull up slightly and out with alittl ebit of force
