Universal/Garage remote in visor not programming

I tried so many times to program my garage/universal remote on my visor to my garage but it wont work. I thought that it could be broken but when i programmed it to my friend's garage, it worked perfectly fine in the first try. Could it be that the frequency for my garage is not compatible with the universal remote in my max? Does anyone else have that problem?

Re:

Your homelink visor may not support rolling codes that some, now most, garage door openers use for security reasons. I believe that if your visor has the homelink "house" around the LED it supports rolling codes. If it does not, then your garage opener must use rolling codes and it will not support it. I am in the same boat. Hope this helps...
