A while back as I was doing my inspection in some shop, the mechanic noticed that my rack & pinion is leaking power steering...quoted me for about $800 to get it fixed....

I drove for about a month, periodically checking the fluid level and adding more if necessary....

I went to autozone a few days ago to get more power steering fluid & I noticed some Power Steering STOP LEAK stuff... right on top it said "Fixes Worn Rack & Pinions" for $7.99/bottle, I decided to buy one... put it in there and the leak stopped.....great stuff....i know some of you had that problem so i highly recommend the product....at least it worked for me, so i hope it works for you....

so instead of spending $799+ it cost me $7.99

I had a PS leak on my old 626, put some synthetic power steering fluid(it leaked all out so I just filled it up w/ the stuff) that said it stopped leaks also, well... It never leaked out again =\

That was pretty cool.

 

It sounds like it plugs leaks, I highly doubt it "Fixes Worn Rack & Pinions". So it may mask other problems. But if a leak is your only issue, nice find!

yeah, leak was my only problem...

it is called stop leak...but it's some different brand though.....there's a big sticker right on top that says "Fixes worn Rack & Pinion". . . (i think they mean leaks only by that)

Do you think this will be permanent? or just something to hold you over for a couple of months?

 

I'm trying to get my car inspected and it had a leak. Did you take it back to the same guy? and did he pass it. He quoted me 860 bucks.
