Hello,

I am looking into buying a 1997 or 1998 Maxima SE and I've got a question. I searched through all the forums and could not find the answer I was looking for so hopefully somebody can help me.

What does it mean if a Maxima has Gold Trim? If you know, please let me know. Thanks a lot.

The letters MAXIMA along with the Nissan symbols are all gold plated. Ugly in my opinion.

yeah

in my opinion it doesnt look good. On white, it can pass, i guess. But it gives the Max that pimp-mobile look. Plus, I like the Max cuz its a sleep car...the gold seems to draw so much attention.

The ugliest possible thing is the gold door handles.

My opinion though.

gotta agree with you here - mine has those atrocious gold door handles but when you're buying used and run across a great deal, whattayagonnado? the good thing is that they are starting to wear off so i think i may try either painting the handles or removing the electroplating via burnishing or something...

When i bought mine I specifically told them to put on the gold package because the car is white and having the gold lettering in the trunk helps to reduce it's FAT look. Mine only came with the front nissan emblem and rear lettering gold plated which is starting to fade...door handle stayed same.

i have the gold trim...

but i only have it on the front and rear emblems as well as the ring around the antenna. I think it would look better silver but i dont want to buy new emblems and there is no way to get rid of the painted gold stripe down the side of my car... but i dont think it looks bad on the emerald green ..imo
