So I got my tranny cooler today (from Mobiletek), now I will install it tomorrow afternoon, and tell you guys about it, anyhow I bought the tranny cooler from Hayden. BUt I got this part number 514 for 49.99. Is this a good size? I bought it at Autozone, do I need a bigger one? Thanks everyone

uhhh...so you ment to say you got your vb today and bought a hayden tranny cooler. what size is it? 514 is no hayden transmission cooler i know of...they are usually 402 403 404
which ones of these are it?:
http://www.bulkparts.com/MM001.ASP?pageno=1181
also they probably have it cheaper...
you should run a 403 or bigger inline with the stock cooler. depending on how many miles you have a transmission flush can be good. also have you considered buying new Solenoids for it before you install it?
which vb did you get? there are different kinds/stages...
good luck with the install it's really not too hard. after getting the vb mod it makes driving an auto soo much more enjoyable. let us know how it goes...

Crap sorry guys I got the VB mod from Mobiletek. It was the upgrade, I didnt know they came in stages, if it did I'm assuming I got the weekend racing/street racing stage. Anyhow my car has about 144,000 miles, the tranny cooler is a Hayden 'High Performance transmission oil cooler" this is what it says:
part number: 514
Thickness:3/4"
Height:10"
Length: 15 1/2"
Core: 12"
Fitting: Screw-on
there are two other series of tranny coolers
Rapid-Cool Transmission Oil Coolers
and
Ultra-Cool Transmission Oil Coolers
"part numbers go from 676-679, and 401-1015)

Hayden Transmission Cooler kit
# 1405 Heavy duty driving, trucks, class "A" motor homes
GVW to 26,000 lbs.
10" x 15 1/2" x 3/4"
#1405...$34.44
that is one big **** cooler. i added my vb around 130k i did a flush and the vb had new solies in it...i reccomend it can only help the tranny having nice new fluid. you could even fiill it with B&M trickshift if you had the $$$...
your cooler is huge...install the cooler 1st!!! not after the VB. honestly getting a tranny cooler in correctly is a pain in the ****, least it was for me. more so then the VB install imo.
good luck. if you have any questions ask.
PS: i have a 403 and some 4gen guy with a vb said he has a 403 and lives in florida and has had no problems...403-404 is gravy. run them inline.

Aight, well I know for sure I aint gonna be hauling anything, so what I'm ok with the little tranny cooler?? (if not I'll get the bigger one) My mechanic is gonna install the VBmod and the tranny cooler at the same time, I'll mention to him to put the tranny cooler first. Any other suggestions besides the tranny flush?

oh i only say the cooler 1st because it was a ***** to install. also it holds about 1/2 a quart of fluid so once you install it you have to top up your tranny fluid...and your going to lose a good amount when you drop the vb...make sure he cleans the magnets at the bottom of the tranny pan...what else...i reccomend a flush cuz your going to refill about 1/4 of the fluid...maybe more...
good luck. OH!!! change the filter on the VB buy a new on or have him do it. they usually come with a gasket too. if you installed this yourself you'd save cash and feel alot better about yourself...its really rather simple imo.
peace

has anyone run just an after market tranny cooler and not inline with the stock one?, the reason i ask is b/c If I run it inline it comes way to close to the turbo piping and melts it, i have had to replace the line 3 times and decided to just go aftermarket cooler. Do you think by doing this I could run into any problems?

Stock one is a joke anyway in comparison.

the valvebody stage 3 upgrade and b&m tranny cooler 1 month ago at maximumtuning. i was running 300hp easy with just the level 10.
i didnt run it that hard until last year when the comp got tough.

I totally bypassed the stock cooler but then again I have a B&M with bypass valve. Anywho i have about 130000 miles now with no problems so it must have worked. Ive always wondering if I should have run it inline with the stock one though.
