Are you 100% sure it has the same bore and stroke? Because I'm not.

No big deal at all. I'm still not sure what the difference is. But I'm in the middle of doing the AE headlight mod so I'm not going to research it heh

The 5th Gen 3.5 runs throttle by wire??? Thought this was in the 6th Gen maxima??

huh?

95-99 4th gen maxima: VQ30DE
00-01 5th gen maxima: VQ30DE-k
02-03 5th gen maxima: VQ35DE
04 6th gen maxima: VQ35DE

and yes, all the 3.5 liter engines run a electronic throttle by wire. Try popping open the hood of a 2k2-2k3 maxima and do the following:
1. rev the engine by pulling on the throttle cable to open the throttle plate
2. actually find a mechanical cable controlling the throttle plate
You can't.

I'll be the first to admit I don't know my *** from my elbow when it comes from the year to year differences. That's why I added "right?" at the end because I wasn't sure.

so could we bore the vq30 block .12 to match the bore of the vq35, use the crank and rods from the vq35 and get custom pistons to make 3.5?

This is a pretty big over haul. You cant just go slapping this stuff together, i'd bet good money you could stroke this moter with a 3.5 liter crank but id bet even more money that youll do more harm to your engine if you try doing with such little knowledge on the subject. the cams might work if you could have someone make an ecu to match the lift, duration and grind of the them but all in all this a fairly extensive project and involves plenty of research. (you probably wont find the answers on this site my friend) good luck though and if you give up id be more than interested in giving those parts a good home.

wait are you talking to me? cause if you are than thats some pretty funny shit. i wasn't talking about the guy who started this thread or any of your posts. i was talking about the idiots who posted in the beginning of the thread sying that that this could not be done. now this is coming from people who have like 20-30 posts and obviously they dont know **** and shouldn't post BS answers to peoples questions. i had nothing against you or what you said so just STFU yourself

Defense mechanism - I'm used to the 240SX forums. We put a VH45DE into a S13, and we got a LOT of flack. Lots of flames and bull**** calls. We were in the middle of such a flame war. I'm still testy.
