Dash lights problem !!!

Did anybody have this problem when none of your interior lights work, except dome and door lights. I first thought that it could be just instrumental lights, but then noticed that none of dash+shifter+sig.lighter+power_window_switch lights work.
I'm just learning this car and do not have any idea on what fuse to check. I did check all fuses under the dash, but they all are fine.

I need your experience, guys, PLEASE

1. check fuse
2. make sure your interior "dash+shifter+sig.lighter+window" lighting control is turned on:

The fuses are all labeled on the back of the fuse panel door, if you didn't notice, but if you checked them all, that couldn't be the problem. Probably just the dimmer switch turned off.

I am having the same problem, I found a fuse in the panel that is blown but every time I replace it, and turn the lights back on the fuse blows yet again. I am thinking there is a short somewhere, but I dont know where to start looking for it.... email me if you find a solution.... Gann_Matthew@hotmail.com

Which one is that? I can't figure out which one it is from just reading the boxes' tops.

checked my dimmer switch, looks like it works. I'm leaning more towards some central relay/fuse cos non of my lights work. The only things that light up are those check_engine brake, airbag so on, + green lights under vents buttons

Sounds like a short. I'd recommend checking all of your electrical functions-lights, turn signals, power seats, stereo, etc. and see if anything doesn't work. Are you completely stock, or do you have any mods from stock?

I had the same problem, turned out to be one of the wires that didn't get connected to my new stereo, it was the wire that dimmed the stock radio.

the fuse in the engine bay also does the taillights, so if your taillights are working that fuse is fine. the fuse inside the car is labeled like interior illumination or something like that. sounds like its time to start ripping apart the dash and find the short.

My tailights are working fine, even the blinkers and the high beam lights are working. The only things that aren't are the lights behind the climate controls and the driver and passenger front window control lights. And of course the lights behind the speedo and rpm gauges. The fuse that keeps blowing is the interior illumination fuse, I do have an aftermarket stereo that I just installed, though I think I hooked all the wires back. I am leaning towards a short, but I wouldnt be able to tell if the dimmer was out because I have no lights to dim. Thanks for all of your suggestions. Matt

where would you start to look for a short?
My tails work fine. The guy that I bought the car from had an aftermarket stereo in, but before selling the car he took it out and put some cheap crap in, which I took out, so he might have shorted my dash with that stereo.

Can smb check their dimmer switch with multimeter and tell me what it is suppossed to show on those contacts?

Sorry, guys, I know this is painful, but I rely on your experience and Thanks to everybody for sharing it

like I said before, check the stereo, and make sure that every wire that is not connected has a piece of electrical tape over the end. mine was a wire that was cut flush with the insulation but still managed to short the system. as for the dimmer switch if I have time today I'll test it out for you guys.

I really appreciate all the help guys. This my first Maxima and am really pleased with the way it drives the power it offers and so on. It was kind of shocking to get in my car at night and find that the dash lights were out and I then had no way of telling how fast I was going or anything for that matter.

Problem was solved with a new dimmer switch

As for shaky cars, check your injectors. I also had bad knock in the engine, but put a new injector and now the car runs like
