Do I NEED an Intake?
Do I NEED an Intake?
I have ordered a WSP Y-pipe and Mobliletek VB mod and plan on installing next week. I currently have a K&N panel filter. Do I have to get an intake right away to enjoy a signifigant power increase, or is the intake mainly for sound? I have kind of tapped my resources as I also have rotors, pads, cattman RSB,FSTB on order too and would like to hold off on intake if it's only gonna make it louder!
aftermarket intake will help you induct better air-flow into the engine. better air-flow = more combustion = more power. how much horsepower to the wheel? well i don't know. it depends what kinda intake you are using.
aftermarket intake will also increase sound, but not like a v12, not like a SC, just a nice and deep growl from the engine bay, always a plus

well if you are strapped for cash you can always get an ebay intake, i see em from 29 bux+. i got my injen knock off for like 39 or so. Very nice pick up at 3500 rpms and it sounds terrific at WOT. why pay 300+ for some pipes and a filter
get the ebay and later on buy a better filter, thats what i did.

if you buy the ebay kit, be smart and shell out the $30-40 for a really nice K&N cone filter, as the ones that come in those kits I wouldn't trust to purify the air that I breathe, let alone my precious engine.
