y-pipe; bees in a can problem fixed without exhaust wrap
After installing my y-pipe, I heard the noise described by many people as the "bees in a can" problem. Since I did not want to void the warranty by warpspeed on the pipe, I decided no to use the exhaust tape to fix the problem. The rattling noise was loudder when the car was cold and when I stepped on the gas pedal. Since the inlet piece on the y-pipe that bolts on to the cat converter is not attached to the tubbing of the y-pipe, it was causing the y-pipe to rattle against it. Once the car warmed up, the heat caused the y-pipe to expand, reducing the noise, but not eliminating it completely. I took the car to a muffler shop where I had them weld the inlet of the y-pipe to the tubbing on the y-pipe (on the y-pipe side before the cat converter). Let me just say, WOW! No more noise, and I could finally step on the gas without feeling like a ricer. Only cost me about $15, but it made a huge difference.
if you look at y-pipe (the end that bolts on the the cat converter), it has the connector that bolts on to the cat. That connector is free-flowing on the y-pipe until it is bolded on. After you have installed the y-pipe on the car, and bolted the connector to the cat converter, have that connector welded on the tubing of the y-pipe to prevent rattling.
I think this is only on the Warpspeed y-pipes. I know exactly what he is talking about. The part, a flange that bolts to the cat is not welded on to the y-pipe itself, you can actually move it around. When you tighten the cat bolts on to this it brings the y-pipe and cat together. I think WSP is the only company that does this.

the connector past the flex section on the warpspeed y-pipe is free-flowing. After you get it bolted on to the cat converter, have it welded on to the tubbing of the y-pipe

ok I see it now. Well I think thats the only pipe they make like that. But the bees in the can is different. I guess people with WS should worry about this issue.
good info man!

it has the gasket, but that is not where the problem is. The problem is on the actual tubbing of the y-pipe rattling against the ring on the connector, and that is where the weld is placed to fix the problem

reading this thread gave me an idea...
Do you think i might see a reduction in the bees in the can noise if I bought a simple gasket (metal) and tightened it around my y-pipe flex section?

no, not the extra prong. you simply weld the connector (the one that is already on the y-pipe) to the actual y-pipe. for some reason, warpspeed makes their y-pipe with a free-flowing connector, causing it to rattle when you hit the gas pedal.
