Wheel Bearing Replacement (not repack)
Has anyone replaced the front wheel bearings on their car? I don't have the tools to do a refurbishment job like on the motorvate site, but I've found that rockauto sells bearings for $35 each. What do you get for $35? Are these an easy bolt-on job with no special gear puller and 2 ton press required for the average weekend garage monkey?
Thanks for any help. My bearings aren't sqeaking, but they go whump whump whump way too much much much. 111K miles.

You will need a press in order to do the whole job yourself. Although, you can remove the whole steering knucle and take it to a shop who will press your new bearing for you. Shouldn't cost more than $25 or so for them to press out the old and press in the new.
I did this last month. I will say that it's not a fun job removing the steering knuckle but I save alot of money. a shop will want around $300+ to do the whole job.

Taking the parts to the shop will be a whole lot cheaper than taking the whole car. But I will have to do it someday soon. Thanks again,
Mark
