Accident: Max Vs Deer **pics** {**Fixed**}

Hello Maxima People,

Friday night comming back from the air port, I accidentally hit a Freakin dear, on my way home. I came from out of the terminal, and there a 2 lane road that will lead to the hwy. the streets were pretty dimly lit,and I wasnt even speeding! I was going about 40, and I saw a deer in the street, he had just finished crossing so I didnt hit him, my foot came off the gas, and before I could hit the breaks, a second dear, entered my head light, this deer was comepletly invisiable until it got into my light, by the time I saw the second deer, it was too late, I could even break. I hit the deer, it went about 10 feet into the air and was flipping the landed on the side of the road on the grass, I was shocked and started to pull over, my mind was so shock almosted stalled in 4th ( was giong about 15mph), but didnt. pulled over, sadly the deer didnt make it. I look at the front of my max, and the hood it dented up ( not too bad but pretty bad ), front grill broken into about 3 different pieces, and my side blinker light broken. The damages dont seem to be too bad, but my hood look terrible.

I'm wondering should i try to get a new hood for the car (maybe junk yard), or could a body shop fix it for little price, plus my grill is messed up so I will need a new grill, any recomendations on a decent not too expensive grill to get? I the stock grill is broken beyond repair.

I love how the back looks at this angle. But my Altezzas should be here at the end of the week, then will shave off the hamburger.

thanks for the advice.

I have fixed the links for Good sorry about that.

Have any pics of the 97 front conversion? I think I've seen it and if its what I think it is, I' like the stock look of the 96 better...not sure. . .

If anyone is in need of OEM parts for their max, here is a decent site, I just found while searching.

http://www.partstrain.com/cgi-bin/pt...6&model=MAXIMA

not sure if people know about this site or not, but I just wanted to post it for those who may not know.

dang, that dear jacked up your car. the head light brackets seem damaged too since the lights are pushed in some. funny how your front bumper looks fine, but the meat of the deer was at grill height. sorry and wish you luck getting it all fixed.

I was wondering why you don't go through your insurance company for the repairs. There might be more wrong than you can see. And that way you can get new parts.

Id say your lucky the airbags didn't pop out, considering the amount of damage on the front end. If that deers head was low it would have hit the bumper with a good force and tripped the airbag sensor.
As for the hood it looks like its toast.....id get a carbon fibre hood, and keep the existing bumper since its not damaged.
You could do a 97-99 conversion if you want, but thats mainly preference.
Some people actually like the look a stillen lip does to a 96 max.
Clear corners would go good too.

Well I have an update after going to a body shop (still going to get some more opinions but its pretty confirmed)

MAXSRB your right, hood is gone need a new one, I would go with the CF hood but i dont think it would look good on black. If anyone has any images of a Black Max with a CF hood.
going to need a new corner light the glass piece (http://intoxicated-studios.brad.com/maxvsdeer.htm bottom pic) my is broken on the left side of the car, my housing brakets for the lights are broken on each side so I will that as well, and a new front grill but I might want to do something creative and am open to ideas, going to check out the "Cefiro Headlights " see how they look, I hope needed new housing brackets doesnt mean I need new lights as well.

Good point, I'm worried they might fix but raise my insurance, going to check it out, plus the car is insured under my mother, but she bought the car for me (we save more money by insuring it under her) I'm not sure how they would react to me driving it? not sure I'll look into that as well, cause it would be lovely for them to fix everything and I dont have to pay a dime, I guess I got kinda caught up in the fact that, the repairs needed mean I might be able to throw on a CF hood, and the 97 grill.

Going to check insurance, but I still wonder how a CFR hood would look on a Black max?

See for yourself. This car is a 96 also, and one of the best looking ones might i add.....

A CF hood compliments a black max nicely, but you would have to see it in person to really notice the looks, as the closer you get, the more noticable it is...

it's against the law at least here in NY to raise insurance rates when an accident was caused by an animal. My friend has Geico and he hit a deer and he paid his deductable and that was that. His insurance didn't go up.

Deer damage?! Yeah Right! I mean... I know it is.. but I've seen TONS worse. You're lucky . I've known people who totaled(sp?) out hitting a deer.

As for the "sadly" part... The bastard had it coming running out in front of your Maxima! Karma has balanced everything out...

Dude... you have no idea... Maybe you do...

But, where I live, there is woods on two sides of me and fields on the other two. When I come home from work at night... You can't even begin to count the deer! To add to that, my street lighting is horrible. The only lights out there is practically your headlights. I have to drive slow and cautious because these deer bastards are all kinds of in the road!

seriously?? wish I lived in NY, will be calling my insurance in an hour, hope thats true for everywhere and the deductable isnt too much, then I could save my money for the M Bumper ( I like it now . . .) and other mods.

Thanks everyone for your concern, yeah I realized ( later when I wasnt looknigat my max), that it could have been worse, if the deer was talker, I would have most likely clipped his legs, then it would have hit my hood (probably over engine cause something to get bent) then hit my windhsield, roll over the car, knowing my luck, hit the spoiler, then fall behind me. And if Ihad slammed on my breaks or downshifted, the guy behind me prob would have hit me, but then, I could have gotten his insurance to write a check to me, then get a stillen exhaust (damn thats thing is pretty).

will keep u gusy up to date.
