how stupid will this look?

Im currently having some body work done on my max.....insurance style. I worked a deal out with the bodyshop to put a skyline kit on it and paint it, and i will only need to pay my deductable. The thing is, its still on stock suspension with sawblades. Not really the order i would do things but its hard to pass up a free body kit. It will still be awhile b4 i can lowerer it and put on new rims and tires. How bad is it gonna look till i get the suspension done and wheels?
What would you try to do first?

It wont look to bad, as long as you dont keep the car like that forever.

Get it dropped next, it will even make the sawblades look better and if you get rims before you drop it will look funny.

I would buy wheels first, then buy springs to drop the car to a reasonable height. Keep in mind once you lower the car you risk rubbing your new body kit on the ground. So keep the rims big & the drop minimal? Just my opinion!!!!!!!

Oh wow, reminds me of about 90% of kitted hondas running around on hubcaps. That looks horrible. Definately start with rims/suspension. Thats just my opinion though. I personally wouldnt ever put a kit on my max (let alone a skyline kit) and the biggest id go on rims is 17s (for racing and ride purposes). 18s just ride to rough and slow you down

I really don't like the Skyline kit.
Is there anyway that you can get a Stillen kit? They look way better on the max.
Other than that, I would say, "Hey, do it. Do it. Hey!" --Starsky & Hutch

I would not be able to pass up a free body kit and paintjob. I would not use the skyline, however.

If it was a skyline kit, and i wasnt lowered or had at least 16" SE rims, yeah, id definately pass it up. Hell, id pass up a skyline kit period...

there isnt much weight diffrance in 17 and 18s, the only way wheels help is if you get 10lb 15" like volks or something.

you sound like a hater, the kit is basicly free so i dont undersatnd why not put it on?

P.S. I wouldnt get a skyline kit either cause the sarona is the kit i would get if i had a choise. But everyone has there style.

Why not take the free kit, come home and remove the free kit, put stock bumpers back on the car, go on maxima.org forums, click on the for sale section, sell the kit, and save that money to buy a better kit when you get the rims and suspension?

"you sound like a hater" - If anyone is 'hating', it is you bro. He asked for peoples opinion and he got it.
Here is mine, the kit does not have the same lines as the rest of the car. For that pupose I would say no. But there again, it is your car and your choice. If you like it and do not care what I or other people, who may not like it, think, then do it. I am poor, I say if you like the kit you would be stupid not to get it done.

Drop the car immediately. Anyone saying rims is crazy because, yes, at least you will have wheels, but you will also have the "body kit with 4x4" and the "rims with 4x4" looks going on...double whammy ness.

yeah i think eveyrone missed teh point, just choose some rims now that you can buy in a year or so after scrounging for pennies, because you problaby wouldve spent all that money on a bodykit anyway

Get that thing, and sell it. Then, get a Stillen one or none at all. Then, use the money from that to lower it and get some wheels.

It's a free body job...go for it. But after a while i would change to a different bumper. Maybe a m-bumper or something other than a skyline.

As for a drop or wheels, go with the drop then wheels. You have to think that the drop is probably three times less than a good set of rims and tires. You're going to do it anyways, why not now?

Thanks for all the input. To clear up a few things. The accident.....I hit a tool of some kind in the road and it blew the front and rear driverside tires caused me to lose control and I went into the median. As i came to a stop I hit a utiliy pole with my driver fron tfender. The front tire just lost air the rear tire pealed from the rim and as it rotated it crushed the rearsplash guard and the metal behind it as well as mangled the stiffening bracket behind the quater panel. The reason we chose the skyline kit was due to the way the bumper wraps around that area. Rather than spen alot of the labor time making that area perfect we can just pull the metal down back into shape and put the bumper on over it. Im not sure about the kit. Its either the skyline kit or just have it fixed back to original and pay for a different kit out of pocket at a later date. I know the guy and he said he would be willing to work it out. Im still at work when I get home ill see if I can get some pics of the damage if its no too dark.

Its your car. Get that sh*t put on there. Why wait til later and have to pay for paint AND body work? Do what you can while you can. I wouldn't pay to get something done twice. If you like the skyline kit go with it. IMO they don't look that bad. That's as close to a Skyline as some of us will ever get.

nice way of contradicting yourself . Im a hater yet you wouldnt put it on either? Read what you write first man. He wanted an opinion and i was just stating that if it was MY car i wouldnt EVER put a skyline kit, just like you stated as well...

yes get that installation done first since you only got to pay the deductable THEN start saving up for springs/struts. get rims last because the sawblades dont look that bad at all dropped. dont hate them sawblades!

what you guys have to realize is that it's either or; skyline, or stock. its not an option for him to get the skyline put on by the body shop just to take it off later and sell it for profit. the skyline kit is full bumper replacements... not add on lips like the stillen kit.

if he gets the skyline kit and goes home to take it off, he won't have OEM bumpers underneath it. he'll have to use the money he'd make from selling the skyline kit to buy OEM bumpers. too much hassle for not enough profit.

personally, I say just get the OEM put back on.. it'll look better. skyline bumpers are too aggressive looking and don't belong on a maxima. our cars may be quality built, and pretty quick, but they're still maximas... not skylines. no hating here, just an honest opinion.
