Flushed radiator... a half quart of oil is in the coolant...

When my friend and I were putting on the new alternator yesterday, we thought it would be easier if we took the radiator off. When we drained the coolant it looked a little dark. After it sat for about 30 minutes, a lot of oil was on top of the coolant. My friend said the car probably has a cracked head.

It's a 97 I30 the it's same engine as the Max.

How serious is it that there is about 1/2 to 3/4 of a quart of oil in the coolant from draining my radiator? Thanks. I have an aftermarket warranty that should cover this, I'm just worried.

It might just be your head gasket.

(not that that's trivial to replace)
