How to make stock steelies look good.

Okay, I drive a gold maxima on 15" steelies with those wheel covers you get at walmart. I don't have and don't want to get aftermarket rims.

Here's the toughie.
Is there any way to make them look good?

Haha. I will to the person with idea.

Take them off, put them on a Yugo. Then they will look good.

I have the steel rims for my winter studded tires. I have not found nice looking caps for them yet. I did see some nice caps on a Dodge Neon that looked like Maxima Mags though.

Ummm...gunmetal hub caps with gold spinners, tire flies (glowing valve caps), and throw some of that colored tire spray on your scorcher tires and they will be hot. j/k. Other that the 12 sec 1/4 mile run stated above there's no way. Wait! You could get them chromed...no that's horrible as well. Sorry dude.

exactly why do you want to keep steelies? and if its for weight purposes then just run a 11 sec 1/4 and post your timeslip in to window....im sure no one will think its ugly then

yeah I took my stock nissan hubs off painted the steelies black then sanded, primered and painted the caps black and put them back on looks alot better. but it looks ok because I have a dark green max. the only bad part is you have to repeat process like once a month or the paint on the hubs will get all dirty and start coming off

Why don't you want after market wheels???
But yeah in your case it would look better with the 16" SE wheels of the 17" 5th gen wheels

Some guy here painted his stock steelies gunmetal and got a polished lip from some Chevy wheels. Those looked pretty nice, but yea I would probably paint them flat black and get chrome lug nuts.

buy a set of nice hub caps. i got a set from pepboys and they are identical to the ones on the new nissan altima. just save up for rims and deal with the steelies for now. i dont suggest driving around on steelies with no caps that jus looks ricey IMO.

You could try painting them gloss black.

You could always paint em yellow, dat would be hot!

take the caps off, paint the steelies black and put a chrome trim ring around it. thats like old school hot rod style i guess.

Just buy some 19" polished aluminum HREs and youll be set.

Ive seen some people paint their stock steelies like a semi-gloss silver color. It had a little more class id say than black steelies. Gave it a more mature feel to the car.

I belive you are the first prson I have met that actually wants to keep the 15" steelies. I was so glad when when I got rid of mine. Just some advice, lease don't just rock the blacks, it makes you look like a civic on a budget IMO. If you dont want rims get some nice wheelcovers. My $.02

how is riding on your steelies with no cap ricey?
i think the opposite puttin some "chrome" hubcap on your car to hide your steelies, i think that would be more ricey no?

The thing is I already feel like my rides a little too harsh for my taste after I lowered it... (maxspeed was it? with agx's) I wouldn't want to make it worse. Steelies are what I've got. I was just wondering if there was anything I could do to make them more appealing.
I've got the 5-spoke-rim-wannabe wheel covers.
They don't look too bad as long as the wheels are moving. hehe

I don't want to paint them black. Black wheels on "pebble beige" doesn't do it for me... and yes... it kinda reminds me of my neighbor's civic.

Painting them silver grey.... now that's an idea..... I wish I knew what they would look like. What paint should I be getting and where?

And where could I find chromed lugs? HomeDepot?

I just got an idea. I think I agree on the point that just leaving the steelies by itself is a bit too far on the other side of the road.. but I'm thinking why not paint the steelies in a color that would/could make my covers look better. Like silver steelies, with black covers.... Hmm...

Then again, black steelies goes with everything.........

steelies w/spinning bling bling chrome hubcaps = just plain ghetto, probably has a neon shift ****

if youre going to paint them silver, go to pepboys and get that silver wheel paint, its made especially for wheels (touchups?) but its in a decent sized can. also get alot of cleaning stuff to clean it first, and get some wheel clearcoat. Pepboys should have all the chrome lugnuts youll need. If not, head over to autozone or even wal-mart (seriously)

I wouldnt do the whole silver wheels black cap thing. It would look pretty bizarre and unusual, may attract alot of the wrong attention. Plus your car is beige and thats too many different colors, people will get confused looking at your car and its unique set of shoes. do what you like though and have fun.
