Ethinal Gas!!

Ethinal Gas is going to be put up into some gas stations in the next mounth. Would you guys buy it because its cheaper? I heard that It wears on your seals and gaskets because it is alcohol based, made from left over orange scraps or somthing.

I'd buy it if it isn't going to severly harm the life of my engine.

Ethanol is a grain-based alcohol fuel. You have no choice in running it either because the US government passed regulations to put it in all fuels sold in the US. I'm totally against ethanol for a multitude of reasons.

in Europe a lot of cars have a conversions to propane/butane ( I am not sure which one). Gas is so expensive there, so taxis and folks that drive a lot do that to save on gas.
I don't know details of how exactly it works and what are the cons of such conversion, but it is quite popular.

Ethanol is already in almost all gasoline, premeium or crusty regular it doesnt matter. The problem is that one it is more corrosive than gasoline, and two it doesnt produce as much power when burned.

So, do all gas stations have this or only some?
What brands should we stick too. Could this explain my recent bad MPG?

yeah but look at the star.

"*E85 is a mixture of 85% ethanol and 15% gasoline."

At the pump we get 10% ethanol, at least here we do.

Here in wisconsin all pumps have 10% ethanol added. This does two things. It boost up the octane rating by 2-3points, and is keeps the entire fuel system clean. The government likes it because it reduces tailpipe carbonmonoxide. This 10% does nothing to really change the gas. But if you are using 85% ethanol you might not notice a loss in power but you will not get as great milage, as your car burns more to make the same power. The best thing to do is to do what it says in the owners manual, and That is PREMIUM. Another thing is that to run ehtanol you would have to change your fuel system aroung a bit, unless you have a FFV (Flex Fuel Vehicle) and nissan hasnt made a maxima like this that I know of.

it's all a government conspiracy! its W and all his old oil buddies keeping prices up for crappy quality, dead dinosaur based gasoline.
besides, ethanol is the governments way of rationalizing all the subsidies that the farmers get.
wow, that was a runaway train of thought!
seriously, the Max gets great mileage for the power it makes, but adding a little gas/electric hybrid to the mix would be cool. as long as i'm already waiting for pigs to fly, make it all wheel drive too.

Woops

I didn't even know that there was already 10% of it in there. I guess it was good (for me at least) to post this.

Things are a little more clear now I guess.
