I just installed a new catback system, and a K&N filter. I have heard of forum members disconnecting and reconnecting the battery in order to reset the ECU. Is this a must do? Can the ECU not detect a difference and automatically adjust?

I did a search and got some crazy of the topic results. Thanks in advance!

Do I need to disconnect all wires from the battery or just one? I disconnected the black wire and was expecting to have to reset the stereo stations, but they are still set. Did this work, is my ECU reset? Please let me know how to do this properly. Thanks

Is it possible to do damage or will it slowly adjust itself?
