on the question of air intake temp, definately cooler is better. to really get cooler air, get the intake out of the engine compartment. the way i did it was by using the info under " Shop Talk--modifications--cold air intake installation". i recommend using 3.25 in. holesaw if your pipe is 3 in. if all of your wheel covers are in place , no water problems unless go thru deep water.

 

Way to go ImStockBaby. You'd be suprised at how hot intake air is. With my homemade mipipe setup I was still running at 113 degres yesterday(peak). While moving it dropped below 100. It was about 75 outside yesterday. This temp was also with the aid of the 4" hole in my fenderwell. Damn hot.

 

IMO, it never made sense to me when people said the MEVI is better for autos because the longer gearing of the auto forces it to stay in the lower rpms longer and as we all know, the MEVI takes away 8-10fwhp/fwtq from 3000-5000rpms. The MEVI starts to show serious gains over the stock manifold at around 5800rpms. On a launch, the auto is stuck coming off the line around 2500rpms at best and 1st gear is really long. Then the auto shifts the 1-2 at 6500rpms and the rpms drop into the mid 3000rpm range. It just seems to me that on every shift, the auto is forced to hit the next gear too early and labor on way too long which is detrimental to performance.

Im talking about highway speeds. Above 70mph, autos would really have the advantage because of the taller gearing.

 

I agree. Pretty soon I'm getting this mod on my auto max. Since I already have the JWT ECu with the rev limiter raised the MEVI is just what my car needs.

 

Anyone know where the Technosquare ECU is gonna have the rev limiter pushed backed too??
