Tokico Kit ..... kick ***...

Well with the work of maxima10to1 i got the Tokico Kit put on today. I ordered from Custom Maxima, I remember in a previous post there was some debate on a tokico kit from Ebay that came with Red springs rather than the silver ones. In any event, my order from CM came with red springs, which if I remember correctly are still tokico springs, but colored different for unknown reasons. Anyway, the drop first day and ride quality on 3 all around is awsome! currently the rear drop allows me to very tightly fit 3 fingers where as before I could stick my entire fist in and bounce it up and down. The front is a loose 3 finger, again, before it was a fist with room. Im very pleased so far, felt like stock while I had my stock rims on, but then we decided what the hell and put my 18's on and the difference i felt was about the same with 18's and stock suspension. Car looks awsome compared to stock, can't wait until the springs settle all the way. There should be some pictures coming when I get them from Maxima10to1 i will post those as well. Comparison stock to Tokico both with and without rims. Also a few install pix for the hell of it

Congrats! That's the same setup I have (with the red Tokicos), and I love it! Did you measure your drop on each corner? Are you a 5-spd or Auto?
Try placing the rear struts on one setting higher than the fronts (ie 3 front, 4 rear). This reduces understeer and is great fun in the twisties!!! Enjoy!!!

Didn't measure the drop, but i supposed I could measure the height of my fist vs 3 fingers and im an Auto, so im thinking the front will settle down some more maken it pretty even front and back

The drop is almost identical to my Eibachs, maybe a bit lower. And it is not nearly as stiff. But, it looks soo bad a$$. You know I never got to ride in the thing! WTF?! Matt you owe me big time.

I got 1.625" in the front and 1.75" in the rear. I have a 5-spd, so the front will probably drop more with an auto. The ride height is now identical front and back, so no worrys about SAS (saggy a$$ syndrome---I made that one up).

How did you measure? From the top of the wheel well to the ground, or did you try and measure the actual gap? I want new springs and am wondering how accurate the measuring was.

IMO, the tokico springs give too much of a drop - seems like the car is waaaaaaaay too low. I believe H&R springs give the best drop of all, because they only give like 1.4 inches in the front, whereas this setup appears to have given a 2 inch drop.

Anyway, why did you buy from Custommaxima? There's a group deal for tokico illumina shocks - $425 shipped

Well, I paid 620 shipped for both illumina's and the springs, so basically I paid like 430 for the illumina's, if I had gotten the illuminas with the GD, then boughten the tokico springs from CM it would have been 200 shipped for the springs, so in the end I saved 5 bux too :P

well, the guy who does the GD sells tokico illuminas for $425 shipped plus good quality Vogtland German-made springs for $200 shipped so total = $625 with a very similar drop and much better springs IMO.

I measured from the wheel well to the center of the wheel hub before and after lowering, and again about 3 weeks after. The numbers posted are the difference between OEM distance, and the distance 3 wks after lowering. I was very careful about this, and this is how the instructions from Tokico suggested to measure.

You said you got red springs. It's been suggested that there's no real difference between the red and silver springs. I'm inclined to believe that now, that you've received red from custom maxima, and Luke had silver from them.
I ordered the kit off of eBay for $560 shipped. I ordered on Saturday, received that Thursday. Pretty good shipping I'd say, and packaged directly from Tokico, all in one box, and included the red springs. I was pretty happy over all, and still am!
P.S. the seller was: jdmwerks

How do you know they are better? Have you used both the Vogtland and the tokico springs, or are you basing it on reputation of springs?

Im having trouble deciding over the H & R's and EIbachs for the tokico shocks.... I know the difference, but is H & R worth it?? Is eibach really too rough?
