Air conditioning problem

MY A/C doesn't work. When I switch it on nothing happens, usually the RPMs raise up and it kicks in. I left it in the garage for 7 months, maybe that has something to do with it. Anyone have any solutions

More than likely you have a slow leak. The A/C system has a high side and low side pressure switches. The low side switch will keep the system from running if the pressures are too low. This will keep the compressor from burning out. To test you could check for voltage at the compressor when it should be on... and/or get a set of A/C guages to check pressures. I wouldn't rely on those cheap little $5 - $15 guages that have the green/yellow/red indicators, they are very inaccurate. It probably wouldn't cost much to have a shop add a little, in fact have them add some leak detector (dye) to the charge so they will be able to find the leak if you have the same problem a few months from now.
